One of my favorite skin care ingredients. I get giddy just writing about it. The benefits are bountiful when it comes to our skin. As we age, we lose our natural hyaluronic acid, so adding it topically is beneficial for plump, healthy skin. Now, you're probably, like, what is it....? It's a naturally occurring substance that binds water and moisture to our skin. They say that it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. It's beneficial not only for our skin, but also for our joints, muscles, and eyes! It's used in eye surgery to protect the retina, and one of the most popular ways it is used is through restalyn, a gel form of hyaluronic acid, which is used to fill in fine lines and plump skin and lips! A more inexpensive and beneficial way to use it is through a serum form that you apply topically to the skin; this is the way that I use it!

As we age, sadly, we start to lose our natural hyaluronic acid! It decreases the most at age 40; and they say that by age 50, we have lost 50%. If you notice when a baby is born, they have extremely soft skin, that is when we have an abundance and it decreases over time. This is why applying some form of hyaluronic acid to the skin is key.

It is a larger molecule, so it actually sits on top of the skin drawing in moisture from the air to plump it topically. It helps soften and hydrate fine lines, wrinkles and skins collagen production! Research states that you can also take hyaluronic acid orally, but I find with skincare it is best to apply it directly to the skin!

One of my favorite brands of hyaluronic acid is by the brand Neocutis called Hyallis! The whole line by Neocutis is incredible! Most of their skincare contains hyaluronic acid, growth factors, and caffeine! I do highly recommend checking them out!
